STAND UP FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

Fortnight for Freedom Begins TODAY

Posted by John Jansen (June 21, 2012 at 2:05 pm)

The day before the HHS Mandate was issued on January 20, Pope Benedict XVI warned U.S. Bishops that “radical secularism” poses grave threats to the “right of conscientious objection … to cooperation in intrinsically evil practices”.

Since then, the U.S. Bishops have been steadfastly outspoken against the HHS Mandate’s assault on religious freedom, and their leadership and messaging has been widely praised by Catholics and non-Catholics alike.

As part of their response to the HHS Mandate, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has called for a Fortnight for Freedom—a time of prayer, education and action on religious freedom starting today, June 21 to July 4.

We wholeheartedly support the Fortnight for Freedom, and we encourage you to take part.

You can find out more about the Fortnight and view the bishops’ educational resources on religious freedom here, and you can get more information on specific events in your diocese here.

The news of the supreme court’s decision in favor of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act has me feeling a little down and frustrated. I hear of different groups encouraging one another, but they don’t join together at one rally site. I may be a dreamer who is upset, but my prayer is that all groups instead of encouraging one another could actually “Come Together” as the song by The Beatles goes. Maybe one day we will meet at the same place and have a March similar to one Martin Luther King Jr. did.

Don’t be discouraged the suits against the HHS mandate continue. Today June 30th there was a rally in Topeka Ks with at least 2-3 thousand people from all over the state. In triple digit temps they were there and it was broadcast worldwide by EWTN. The fight continues psck your spiritual backpack and be ready to go where He leads us.
