STAND UP FOR RELIGIOUS FREEDOM

Day 2: Interfaith Novena to Stop the HHS Mandate

Posted by Eric Scheidler (March 15, 2012 at 8:00 am)

Christ PantocraterPrayer is the foundation of all our efforts to fight President Obama’s HHS Mandate, which forces all employer health plans to provide free contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs, without regard to objections of conscience.

And so I invite all to join in praying a “Novena to Reverse the HHS Mandate” in the days leading up to the big Nationwide Rally for Religious Freedom. Here is the Novena for Day 2:

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 2

Lord Jesus Christ,
You are King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
You are the ruler of every nation
and You call all nations to obey Your law,
which is higher than any human law.

Lord Jesus, we lift up to You today
all who serve in public office.

We pray, Lord, for our President
and for the thousands of people who serve in his administration.
We pray that You enlighten and guide them,
and free them from the deception of evil.

Give them a new respect for human life, for freedom of conscience,
and for the rights of Your people.
We pray that Your people may be free from all unjust laws and mandates
and may always raise their voices
on behalf of human rights.

We ask this of You who live and reign forever and ever. Amen.

Let me get this straight? It’s ok to molest kids, but not ok to want birth control for all. That makes no sense. Religion has messed this world up with it’s mixed messages….smh

  4. Matt Yonke says:

Rod — Who ever said it was ok to molest kids? You’re completely misrepresenting the Catholic Church.

That’s not something the Church encourages, as you well know, it’s something the Church considers a grave and intrinsic evil.

Now that your straw man is out of the way, would you like to talk about why religious institutions should be forced by the government to pay for things that violate fundamental tenets of their religion when we supposedly have strict separation of Church and state in this nation?

    All the best,

    Matt Yonke

  5. Cindy Amicone says:

Be sure, if this is not overturned, greater attacks will come. Pray for our nation, for if we are defeated, how can the United States hold up as an example to other nations? The strong persecutions and violations on basic human rights in other nations will be seen as only a matter of degree. For why should other governments worry when the spokespersons for freedom have violated their own citizens.

  6. Andrew says:

While I will pray, the church needs to push it’s members to get involved locally. Work at a poll, walk a neighborhood, reach out to your precinct executive and see how you can help. This will take more than prayer and phone calls, this will take action. Get up people…

There are many people with chronic, even life threatening illnesses in this country who are not exempt from paying high deductables for their medicine. Why should birth control be free? This is an attempt for secular mind control, waiting for the second shoe to drop!

Senator Menendez of New Jersey responded to my statement that I felt that I was living in WWII Germany by saying that there are “two sides to every story” – I wonder what he thinks the the other side to religious freedom is!

I have been praying and will continue to pray & fast for an end to this terrible injustice to the American people. Several notes above hit it on the nose: wake up Christians and become active!
Jer.7:23 Thus says the Lord: “This is what I commanded, my people: Listen to my voice; then I will be your God & you shall be my people. Walk in all the ways that I command you, so you may prosper.”

I am supporting with prayer and discussion with one of the Senators. We have to be vigilant or we will lose more of our freedoms to a government who wants to tell us what to buy and in essence what to believe.

We have to continue praying and talking about the issues and what we can do to keep our freedoms intact.

  16. Eve Mahony says:

I believe, as a Catholic, a pro-life voter, a tax-paying citizen, the daughter of a father who served in World War II, the wife of a man who served in the Air Force, the grandmother of two who serve in both the Air Force and the Navy, whose father served in Desert Storm in the Air Force and whose other grandfather served in the Air Force, that our beloved country has become overrun with evil. Socialistic and communistic ideals have crept into our government offices. Many people have become blinded and deafened by ungodly, self-serving lifestyles, taken on sinful ways and ignorted others in the process. The rich who are a part of this group believe that they have powers which will sustain them indefinitely, but the pendulum swings both ways and past foreign governments and dictators tried what they plan and ALL of them failed. Study history to confirm. May God, in His infinite mercy save us who follow His commandments.

Terrific comments eve……I for one from now on will be posting anti abortion stickers on my truck…..we need to not vote color….not vote…party or race but vote for pro life…..euthanasia is right behind this and already going on……the wording of pro choice needs to be pro death as there is no choice……only life or death……the living being inside a mother is her child and separate from her body…..My family found this out the hard way the uninformed way and my daughter after seven years is still battling the emotional scars……

  18. Robert says:

To Rod (#3): Those who greatly dislike Catholics and the Catholic church rejoice in the “priest scandal” because they feel it gives a sense of self-righteous justification to their anti-Catholic sentiments. To rejoice something which has caused suffering to individuals to justify your personal loathing of the Catholic church is equally wrong and equally worthy of chastisement.

  19. Robert says:

To Eve Mahoney: I too come from a long line of military servers. I so agree with everything you say in your comment. I find it very disturbing that it is fine with the liberals and atheists in this country for Catholics to run to stand shoulder to shoulder with our comrades in arms to defend them from our enemies, but not fine with them for a Catholic to run for president. Everyone in this country knows Rick Santorum is a wonderful man. He is pro life, pro marriage and pro family. But they won’t vote for him. He’s too good. Rick’s in the light and those who do evil and are in darkness fear the light because the light reveals their sins. (John 3:20)
Eve, maybe next war all we Catholics should seek conscientious objector status claiming “thou shalt not kill.” Let the liberals and atheists go it alone, they’ll be relieved to know none of their brothers in arms are carrying Rosary beads and Bibles.
