Christ PrayingThere are only 3 days to go until the huge Nationwide Rally for Religious Freedom! Help spiritually prepare the soil for Friday’s outpouring of support for religious freedom from Portland, Maine, to Honolulu, Hawaii; Seattle, Washington, to Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and all points in between.

This is Day 7 of the Novena to Reverse the HHS Mandate. Find the previous days’ novenas here.

Novena to Reverse HHS Mandate: Day 7

Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
We thank you, Father,
for the grace of repentance
and the power of conversion at work in Your people.

We thank You for Your Holy Spirit,
Who convicts us of sin and enlightens us
about how to please you.
Lord, enable Your people,
in the midst of current persecution and danger,
to live the spirit of repentance
ever more deeply and effectively.

For every moment we lacked courage in the past,
give us the grace to repent.
For every time we were silent when we should have spoken,
give us the grace to repent.
For every time we could have witnessed to life but did not,
give us the grace to repent.

Made strong by the spirit of repentance,
may Your people rise up
and reverse the tide of evil in our midst.

Enable us to defend our freedom
and to build a Culture of Life.

We pray through Christ our Lord. Amen.

The Catholic Bishops and priests have been railing against President Obama’s health care policies claiming that they violate the Church’s rights. I disagree.
This priest is just making himself look like an ass. He knows that the government can’t force any church to do any morally repugnant things. What he is not telling everyone is that the Catholic Church, and all churches by the way, want to engage in Commerce and therefore they must obey the rules of Commerce. They have become Corporations and operate like Businesses. If they were true churches, they would not be part of the government, like they are. They would not have “PAID EMPLOYEES” who must be paid according to the rules of all other businesses. They would have “VOLUNTEERS” who don’t need to be paid and therefore, the church couldn’t be forced to pay payroll taxes that include deductions for Health Insurance, contraceptives of abortions.
The Church couldn’t be forced to pay for contraceptives or other things like abortions because they would have no employees. They would all be VOLUNTEERS. You can compensate a volunteer by giving them money with which they can do what they want. If the want contraceptives or abortions or whatever, they would have to pay for it themselves. The Church would not be involved.
Churches are the people, not the “businesses” that they run. When you petition the government for the 501-3(C) status of a non-profit corporation, you join the government and must then abide by its rules. If you collect monies, they are your “earnings” BUT, unlike other businesses, instead of being taxed on your profits, you accept the rules of Commerce which all businesses must do in order to continue your privileged status. The reason the church is a corporation is that they (church members) want to deduct their contributions from their income taxes. You can’t be of God while you’re still part of the world. “You must come out from among them. Why would you want others to pay more taxes because you want to pay less. Getting a break on your taxes is like saying to God: “I’ll give you more money but part of it must come from those who don’t believe in you or from those who are Buddhists, or Hindus, or agnostics.
Christ, himself, told His followers that “they must come out from amongst them” meaning the world of commerce. He also went into the Temple and threw out the moneychangers. They have no part of God’s world. He also told his followers that they “should render unto Caesar (the government) what is Caesar’s, and unto God what is God’s.
This priest is trying to have his cake and eat it too. He wants the Church to have the best of both worlds. Christ, himself, said that you can’t do that. That priest needs to go back to Seminary School and re-read the Bible – especially the New Testament.

you need to truly read the bible and ponder on its holy words. you will then understand it is wrong to call a priest an ass.(you are attacking a member of my Church our Church a representative of Jesus.) you certainly seem familiar being in that a– world. well wake up and get out of it and smell the coffee. let me tell you this mandate is not about the Catholic Church wanting to have its cake and eat it,is not about just Catholics standing up against this abuse, HHS mandate is a violation of everybody’s first Amendment right.
You were created to love, serve, worship God, and live for ever. If you don’t you’ll miss the opportunity and it will be for all eternity

It’s utterly unfathomable how any one can miss the insidious nature of this mandate. It’s ALL about religious persecution…making the Catholic Church pay for the unconscionable act of abortion, as well as other things that the Church holds to be sinful and against Church teachings.
Never in the history of our country has this happened. The right to religious freedom does not come from government but from God. It’s all about a president and his political party that are taking incredible actions against us, the American people by by-passing the Constitution and the authority of Congressional approval. It’s illegal and why there’s not an outcry for this person’s impeachment, is beyond me.

Stanley Stempleski, Sr.= YOU MADE A LOT OF SENSE TO ME, BUT I AGREE WITH noemi AND dbw. THIS GOES FAR DEEPER THAN MOST PEOPLE UNDERSTAND, UNFORTUNATELY 🙁 THIS COUNTRY AND THE GOVERNMENT HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS ABORTING MILLIONS OF HUMANS. WHY, WHY ALL OF A SUDDEN AND SO QUICKLY IS THIS HAPPENING? AMERICA HAS NOT HAD A CHANCE TO WRAP THEIR MINDS AROUND THE REALITY OF THIS MANDATE. MANY HOSPITALS AND CARE PLACES WERE STARTED BY CHRISTIANS, AND THE CATHOLICS WERE A HUGE FACTOR IN BUILDING HOSPITALS IN THIS COUNTRY. WHY AFTER ALL THIS TIME….AFTER THE GOVERNMENT HAS HELPED AND SUPPORTED THESE INSTITUTIONS WANT TO MANDATE THIS? REMEMBER THE WOLF COMES IN SHEEP CLOTHING WAITING TO DEVOUR WHOMEVER THEY CAN.
