To JCF,
I agree that the emphasis on praying a novena (you'd have to be Catholic to even know what a novena is) makes it look as though this is primarily a Catholic effort, or solely a Catholic effort, but it is not. Christians of other flavors and non-Christians of various flavors are involved in this protest because they are concerned about the constititutional issues being raised by the implementation of the Affordable Care Act. I have seen posts here from several non-Catholics who support this effort and plan to attend rallies near them.
The Affordable Care Act has numerous constitutional issues which were not clearly addressed when the act was passed. It was a commendable effort at health care reform, but many legal scholars are of the opinion that large parts of it will not stand up to court challenges, and other parts of it seem to be in violation of the 1993 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, passed under President Clinton.
This HHS mandate that so many Americans are protesting is only one of the more obvious problems with the law.

"Interfaith Novena... Father, Your Son Jesus Christ"

You have a very interesting definition of "Interfaith" (Something like Dominican Roman Catholics, Franciscan Roman Catholics, Jesuit Roman Catholics?)

***

More to the point: the Affordable Care Act doesn't "violate religious freedom" (anymore than the do the EXISTING laws of 28 states w/ similar provisions).

What is being indicated TO ME, is that in your coalition I see a group of people dedicated to ***sectarian theocratic hegemony***, determined to violate MY RELIGIOUS FREEDOM to order my health care priorities, as *MY FAITH* teaches me.

But since my (FYI, Christian) faith has different views than does yours, you have decided it's illegitimate. You have decided that MY conscience is of no concern.

What would Pope Leo XIII, so concerned w/ the rights of workers, make of your contention that employers should have ABSOLUTE control over the health care choices of their employees 24/7/365? What other areas should employers have absolute control over? My place of worship? For whom I'm able to vote? What rights will you leave me, except to bow before (your interpretation of) your god? (With you as your god's, um, "Vicar"?)

I will not surrender. I will support candidates who respect my FREEDOM---including the freedom from *anxiety* of lack of health care coverage, in all the areas that *I and my doctor* see fit.

I will pray to God for your conversion from your profoundly misguided ideas, ideals and agenda. May God grant us ALL More Light!

I am very much concerned about this issue (and many other issues put forth by this administration) and I wish I could get involved, but... not all of us are physically able to get involved. I am not able to be transported to any location for any rally. Would there be any kind of "virtual rally" that the disabled could be a part of and show our support?
