Liberty Bell Rings Out For Religious Freedom

On June 8,2012 over 1,000 citizens from the Philadelphia, PA Region rallied and stood up to show their support of our First Freedom, Religious Liberty and their opposition to the current Administration’s HHS Mandate! The weather was beautiful! The crowd engaged!

We had a tremendous line up of speakers. Auxiliary Bishop Timothy C. Senior opened the day with prayer. and Rev. Watkins closed the day with prayer!. The Liberty Bell Rang at 12 noon and we began! These were the speakers : Bishop Timothy Senior from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Dr. Franck from the Witherspoon Institute, Dr. Mirenda from Neuman College, Ron Rak, J.D. from St. Peter’s Medical Center, a letter from several physicians attending the rally, Lori Windham, J.D. from the Beckett Fund and Sam Casey, J.D.

The talks addressed the fact that our Religious Freedom, our first Liberty is under attack and that this attack is an unprecedented attack on our Liberty! The HHS Mandate does not protect women’s health by making sterilization, abortifacients and birth control widely available, The talks stressed that Catholic Hospitals, Schools, and Charities will be forced to close, submit to unruly fines or violate their conscience if the mandate is not rescinded.

The speakers reviewed the hIstory which occurred in Philadelphia which led to the Declaration of Independence, and Our Constitution and Bill of Rights. The last speaker, Sam Casey, pointed to the liberty Bell and Independence Hall and passionately told the crowd that they are holding a light up for the world by standing up for Religious Liberty.

He reminded us that no other country in the world has our First Amendment ! He warned us that the world is counting on us to win this fight for Religious Liberty! If we fail the world loses.

Sopranist Jayne Maggio led the entire crowd in song! The crowd signed petitions and was empowered to make a difference and to get its voice heard! They left with a mission and wanted to know when the next rally will occur!
