Metairie Joins 2nd Coast-to Coast Rally
Against the Obamacare HHS Mandate
Metairie–On Friday, June 8, as the United States Supreme Court prepares to issue its ruling on the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), citizens of Metairie voice opposition to the Obama administration’s Mandate that forces all employers, regardless of religious or moral convictions, to provide abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans.
The Metairie Freedom Rally will take place from noon to 1 PM at Veterans Square located at Veterans and Causeway Boulevard, joining over 150 cities and towns participating in this national event.
The June 8 Stand Up Rally is organizational and builds on the first Stand Up Rally held March 23, with over 63,000 citizens attending local rallies.
“Religious freedom is essential to a free society,” explained William Graham, local media spokesman. “If Obamacare is not struck down, institutions and private businesses will violate their consciences by complying with it.”
Graham emphasized “What’s under attack today is religious freedom.”
The June 8 Rally is on the 223rd anniversary of when James Madison introduced the Bill of Rights to the Congress, including what would become the First Amendment. “We’re standing up for the First Amendment and demanding that all our laws respect religious freedom,” Graham explained.
The date for the Stand Up Rally was also chosen to highlight the HHS Mandate’s unconstitutional infringement of religious freedom, coming just weeks before the Supreme Court ruling on Obamacare.

WHO: Those opposed to President Obama’s HHS Mandate
WHEN: Friday, June 8, Noon to 1:00 p.m.
WHERE: Veterans Square, Veterans at Causeway Boulevard and in over 150 other cities nationwide.
WHY: President Obama’s HHS Mandate, forces employers, without regard to moral or conscience objections, including religious schools and charities, to provide abortion-inducing drugs through their health plans.
The Mandate’s narrow “religious exemption” runs afoul of the First Amendment’s establishment clause by defining as outside of religious ministry such activities as feeding the hungry, caring for the sick and educating the young, which have always been understood to fall within that sphere.
