Des Moines Stand Up Rally Report

Posted by Jenifer Bowen (October 26, 2012 at 5:15 pm)

After 2 dreary, rainy days in Iowa, the clouds parted and the sun came out, as if on cue, for the Stand Up for Freedom Rally in Des Moines on the steps of the Iowa State Capitol.

The crowd of about 120 were met with enthusiasm from pro-life student group speakers from Iowa State and Simpson colleges.

Jenifer Bowen, Iowa Right to Life, read a statement from Governor Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds that they would always stand with us in protecting and promoting the religious freedoms of all people.

Stand Up for the unborn, for those living with regret, for the wounded, for the Truth!

Local candidates for both House and Senate addressed the crowd and urged everyone to exercise their freedom and vote their values.

The clarion call for those in attendance came from Monsignor Frank Chiodo who reminded us of our heritage and the cost for religious freedom.

Everyone enjoyed the weather and the speeches and most mingled around long after the rally talking with the speakers.

Stand Up Rally on Las Vegas Boulevard

Posted by Virginia Douglas (October 26, 2012 at 3:03 pm)

Las Vegas RallyAppreciative honks, waves, and thumbs from passers-by on Las Vegas Bouldevard birightened the smiles of people lining the street with the Stand Up For Relgious Freedom signs. Las Vegas is a city where it is very easy to find talented speakers and singers.

But it is difficult to find churches willing to support activist events. But 110 people, combined with the people on the street was a pure delight for God’s people. Our hour was packed with messages to inspire courage, perseverance, and commitment to ProLife troops. Our ProLifers are trained and experienced in cheerfulness, kindness, and cooperation. Rain Can’t Stop Ventura Rally for Religious Freedom

Posted by Ed Wurts (October 25, 2012 at 9:49 am)

At corner of Victoria & Telephone High Noon 10-20-12

Great to be there today and out on the street with so many really fine Christian patriots!  If all Americans were like them, we would have NO crisis. This was one of a series of rallies held to protest Obamacare and HHS regulations attempting to compel us to violate our religious beliefs.

A little rain didn’t even slow us down. This was our fourth  such rally, so there was a bit of deja vu and preaching to the choir talk, but we had some new folks and revved up the existing base. A crowd of nearly a hundred people attended [Continue reading …]

Jacksonville Rally a Great Success

Posted by Mary Simmons (October 24, 2012 at 3:03 pm)

We are proud to say that on October 20th, 2012, Jacksonville Fl held their “Stand up for Religious Freedom” at Riverside Park. Our attendance was great with approximately 150 people in attendance.

Much like the other’s, Jacksonville’s Rally had faithful volunteers who dedicated themselves to the work of Christ. As Christians we need to continue to motivate our people, to stand strong in faith. As it is through Him and Him alone that we are able to gather on city streets to worship as one body. Most countries no longer permit any sort of public expression of faith and we are truly thankful for ours, here in the United States of America. [Continue reading …]

Anaheim Stand Up Rally at Angel Stadium

Posted by Steve Cameron (October 24, 2012 at 1:30 pm)

Dr. Aaron Kheriaty speaks at the Anaheim Rally.

Nearly 1200 citizens of Orange County gathered on Saturday October 25, in the parking lot at Angel Stadium under the iconic Big A and were presented with inspiring calls to action to preserve religious freedom in the United States of America by over 20 speakers and vocalists, two live bands, 20 information booths and 10 food trucks!

The event got off to a roaring start as Birth Choice Founder and CEO Kathleen Eaton arrived via patriotic Harley Davidson Motorcycle with its distinctive growl. She then enthusiastically bounded to the stage where she was joined by vocalist Clare Francis Petersen to sing the National Anthem and lead the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance. La Porte, Indiana: How Not to Run a Rally

Posted by Fr.JamesRosselli (October 24, 2012 at 1:31 am)

Stand Up La PorteIt was 9:30 in the morning and the Rally would be starting in two and a half hours. Three of my four speakers had cancelled, one of them ten minutes ago, and the fourth—my keynote speaker—had just informed me that he had a cold and might not make it.

Of course, being the strong and stalwart man of God that I am, I fell into a chasm of gloomy self-pity. The devil whispered all the usual stuff in my ear, how I was a lousy leader and had fallen down on the job; how I wasn’t getting any respect because I  didn’t deserve any, how maybe I should just leave the priesthood and become a bartender, or something.

Same old stuff. We’ve all heard it. It lasted about a half-hour, when I perceived the Lord saying to me, “Relax. I’ve got it.” This was reinforced by my wife (yes, being an Orthodox priest I get to say things like “my wife…”) who reminded me  Who was really in charge. [Continue reading …]

U.S. Rep. Brett Guthrie, Surprise Guest in Owensboro, KY

Posted by Rachel Evans (October 23, 2012 at 10:12 am)

Stand Up Rally #3

Having secured speakers for the third Owensboro Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally, we expected a letter from our U.S. Congressman to be read to us by one of his staff members.

Moments before noon, she informed us that the Congressman was on his way to our rally! We were certainly pleased that he had rearranged a full schedule to come join us! Rep. Guthrie told the crowd that he would continue representing his constituents by vigorously fighting against the HHS Mandate.

“Rest assured I am doing my part in Washington to help overturn this destructive rule. As many of you know, I am a member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and its Health Subcommittee which has held several hearings on this rule during which I have expressed my opposition. Additionally, I have cosponsored the Respect for Rights of Conscience Act, which would reverse this rule by allowing health plans to decline coverage of contraception when it conflicts with their religious beliefs. I will continue to hold the Obama Administration accountable and will continue to encourage my colleagues in Washington to do the same.”

Woodstock, Illinois Rally Report

Posted by Diane Lewis (June 21, 2012 at 9:00 am)

The theme of this June 8 Rally in Woodstock, Illinois was “A little child shall lead them.”  The children’s choir from the Vine Church in Woodstock opened the rally by leading the crowd in singing Lee Greenwood’s song, Proud to be an American.

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. …

On Memorial Day Weekend, everybody sang and prayed, praised our military, both past and present, and, especially when Taps was played so soulfully, we didn’t forget the men who died for that freedom we so cherish. [Continue reading …]

Jefferson City, MO, the “Show Me” State, Stands Up!

Posted by Mike Forck (June 11, 2012 at 2:47 pm)

It was an exciting day at the Missouri Capitol!  Bishop John Gaydos led the rally of 374 supporters of religious freedom with prayer and a strong message encouraging our activism, stating, “Religious freedom is not merely about our ability to attend church on Sunday.  It is impossible to exercise that religious freedom and at the same time compromise the faith that inspires us to action.”

It was a beautiful Missouri day with participants wearing red as they listened to 8 compelling speakers spread truth to concerned Missouri residents on the capitol lawn. Mike Hoey, Executive Director of the Missouri Catholic Conference, emceed the event with 40 Days for Life -Columbia as the coordinators.

We thank Senator Mike Kehoe for attending, as well as all who were involved in the rally and especially to the crowd in RED! It is clear to see that we will not go down without a fight!

Standing UP in Charleston, SC

Posted by Patricia Vitkovic (June 11, 2012 at 11:00 am)

Charleston rallyIt has rained for 4 days here in Charleston, but this morning was beautiful.

As our FREEDOM CHOIR started singing the National Anthem , the voices from the crowd joined in and the sound was amazing!  The RALLY BAND added just the right sound for everything!

Our “MC” for the RALLY was Mike and boy did he keep the crowd on their toes!  Of course, Cathy, lead us all in our favorite chant… hey, hey, ho, ho, the MANDATE has got to GO!

I could write a book on our Speakers!   Each shared their personal experiences on how the HHS Mandate will effect their LIVES and their FAITH. From a small business owner, to a law student, 4 Pastors, Radio Talk Show Host, and so many other walks of life, they each encouraged us and lifted us in Prayers! [Continue reading …]
